Lucy supports Electric Vehicle charging in Oxfordshire

Lucy Group is a strong advocate of sustainability and therefore the move to electric mobility (e-mobility). Accordingly we are a sponsor of the Electric Vehicle (EV) summit taking place on 26th-27th June 2019.  The summit takes place in our home city of Oxford, where most of Lucy Properties’ rental homes are located. Oxford City Council’s sustainability strategy includes an ambitious programme. With an aim to introduce electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) into the City environment, which both Lucy Properties and Lucy Developments are keen to support.

Lucy Properties is committed to ensuring our properties are energy efficient and continue to invest in renewable technologies – enabling EVs is part of our sustainability and energy efficiency strategy. We aim to have EV charging points within our car parks installed and operational from 2020. It’s a logical progression given the increasing demand for EVs. With over 140 car parking spaces within our ownership there is significant scope to give our tenants access to an alternative to fossil fuel consumption. More information will be available in the forthcoming months.

At Lucy Developments we provide EV charging infrastructure for all our houses and flats. We are one of the few developers offering this at this time.  Although demand for EV charging is low at present, we believe that will change over the next few years.  As with Lucy Properties, enabling e-mobility is part of our wider sustainability strategy which includes air source heating, PV and battery storage provision.

As part of Lucy Group, we are sharing our knowledge and expertise across the Group’s businesses to deliver smart, co-ordinated solutions. A good example of this is where we are working with Lucy Electric’s Energy Services team, SSE and Eagle Works Management Company to establish the best strategy for delivering electric vehicle charging at Eagle Works, a 190-apartment development in central Oxford.
